Job Description

Staff Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Take full ownership of the weekly payroll process for 400 employees across four business units (salary, hourly, union) - approximately 1.5 days per week.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, handling payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies.
  • Communicate directly with internal clients and managers face-to-face, addressing payroll and accounting concerns.
  • Support the Controller with key functions, including:
  • Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R) processing and reconciliations.
  • General Ledger management, ensuring accuracy in financial records.
  • Financial reporting and statement analysis, providing key insights.
  • Assisting with audits and compliance to meet regulatory standards.
  • Handle ad hoc requests, such as running reports, analyzing financial data, and providing financial insights to support business decisions.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience in the Manufacturing or Construction industry.
  • Experience processing payroll for a large volume of employees.
  • Mature and proactive with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Patient and adaptable, able to communicate effectively with managers and employees.
  • Resourceful and independent, capable of understanding and anticipating managerial needs.
