They are heavily involved in a number of huge events throughout the year (FIFA World Cup, Met Gala, NYFW etc.) and are based across two New York City offices (Lower Manhattan/FiDi and Bushwick). The business has a small finance team of 4 and is looking to expand due to increased workload, and this role will report directly into the Controller of the team.Job DescriptionThe successful Staff Accountant will:Oversee the General Ledger for the entire business and all of its departmentsPrepare the reports for complimentary Food & Beverage itemsManage the daily cash deposits and credit card transactionsOversee and manage the end-to-end Accounts Payable ledger for the businessMaintain accurate files for the POsDaily and weekly bank reconciliationsSeeking invoice approval and ensuring the correct coding of the purchase ledger invoicesManage the vendor accounts in the systemAssist with the monthly close processMain point of contact for any finance queriesReview event checks against Banquet Event Orders (BEO).Prepare deposits and handle bank/hotel change requests.Prepare "Due Backs" and maintain Petty Cash, including reimbursements.Create the Daily Cash Summary and monitor drop/safe procedures.MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
