About Our Client

The client is a Houston-based and family-owned real estate development and management company.

Job Description

* Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements, in accordance with GAAP, for commercial real estate portfolio companies.
* Maintain all financial statement supporting schedules and reconcile to the general ledger. Create supporting schedules when necessary.
* Review and approve accounts payable and accounts receivable, to ensuring accurate coding entered by the property manager.
* Review and analyze general ledger activity for completeness. Prepare accruals and related journal entries to maintain the general ledger.
* Administer all commercial and retail lease processes (set up new tenants in the accounting software and ensure adherence to lease terms).
* Prepare Straight-line rent entries.
* Review property manager operating expense accruals and post to the general ledger.
* Prepare real estate tax reconciliations.
* Estimate and reconcile Tenants' operating expense recoveries via software (Yardi/MRI).
* Review and post tenant recurring charges.
* Create security deposit charges and complete accounting deposit refunds.
* Assist with preparation of annual operating budgets and forecasts.
* Review bank reconciliations performed by third parties and/or other members of the team.

The Successful Applicant

  • Potential candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or at least 5 years accounting experience with a minimum 3 years of full cycle accounting, including the preparation of financial statements in accordance to GAAP, for commercial real estate and development properties.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office products, Yardi and MRI.
  • In addition, the candidate should have excellent organizational, communication (both oral and written), and time management skills. Must have the ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships while working in a team environment and be able to work independently when needed.
