Job Description

Field Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead all on-site construction activities for commercial interiors projects ranging from high-end tenant fit-outs to multi-floor renovations.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, field staff, building management, and vendors to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and inspectors.



Project Execution

  • Create, manage, and update detailed 2-6 week look‑ahead schedules.
  • Review and interpret construction documents, shop drawings, and specifications.
  • Monitor work for compliance with contract requirements and design intent.
  • Anticipate and resolve field conflicts through proactive problem-solving.



Quality Control

  • Conduct daily site walks to ensure quality and craftsmanship meet company and industry standards.
  • Oversee installation of all interior trades, including carpentry, drywall, millwork, MEP trades, finishes, and specialty systems.
  • Maintain accurate punch lists and manage project close-out activities.



Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce the company's safety program and ensure compliance with OSHA and DOB requirements.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site safety inspections.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free jobsite at all times.



Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily logs, site reports, manpower tracking, and photo documentation.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager on RFIs, change orders, scheduling, and procurement needs.
  • Communicate real-time progress updates and potential impacts to the project team.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Superintendent should have:

Experience & Technical Skills

  • 7+ years of experience as a Superintendent on commercial interiors projects in NYC.
  • Strong background in high-end interior fit-outs, office renovations, and fast-track projects.
  • Deep knowledge of NYC building codes, DOB processes, and logistics planning in occupied buildings.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret construction documents and manage complex field coordination.
  • Proficiency in field technology tools (Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.).



Certifications

  • OSHA 30 required.
  • NYC DOB Site Safety Training (SST) card required.
  • FDNY F-60, S-92, and other relevant certifications preferred.



Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with subcontractors, building reps, and clients.
  • Calm and decisive under pressure, especially on fast-paced projects.
