Job Description

The Trade Surveillance Consultant will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and update surveillance policies and procedures to align with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Work closely with compliance and legal teams to ensure surveillance policies are comprehensive and effective.
  • Implement surveillance protocols for new products, markets, or trading strategies as needed.
  • Monitor and analyze electronic data from various sources including Microsoft Teams, Bloomberg, SMS text, and other communication platforms.
  • Implement surveillance measures tailored to specific communication channels and platforms.
  • Stay informed about emerging communication technologies and adjust surveillance strategies accordingly.

The Successful Applicant

The Trade Surveillance Consultant should have the following background:

  • Proven experience in trade surveillance, compliance, or related roles within the financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, trading products, and regulatory requirements (e.g., MiFID II, MAR, Dodd-Frank).
  • Proficiency in using electronic surveillance systems and tools, with experience in configuring and managing e-comms/email surveillance systems.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify patterns or anomalies.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness in investigations and reporting.
