Job Description

The Traditional And Renewable - Director of Construction - Houston, is responsible for:

  • Serving as the primary interface to the project management team and the client for all construction issues.
  • Establishing the scope, work plan and work schedule and ensure this is communicated to the Project staff and Department Managers.
  • Managing and leading the overall project including technical, financial, and client satisfaction.
  • Development, coordination, and execution of the design phase, construction phase, testing/training phase, warranty phase activities, final commissioning report and personnel.
  • Serving as senior advisor to management; influences highly complex decisions regarding the direction or operation of department.
  • Identifying and taking ownership for developing ideas for technical or business improvement initiatives that impact department/division.
  • Working on significant and unique issues and projects.
  • Regularly using independent judgement in the evaluation of intangibles or situations with minimal precedent or standards available for reference. Selects methods, techniques, and analytical approach and evaluation criteria.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will have some of, or all the below experience & abilities:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent; Advanced business acumen - preference on Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
  • Typically requires minimum of 12+ years in construction - field experience a must.
  • Expert knowledge with experience in ideally both Traditional and Renewable industry sectors - including combined cycle, Battery Energy Storage (BESS), and Solar - Preference on traditional power over renewables.
  • Someone with deep Construction/Technical background - must have come from a field background, ideally at an EPC, and then into an Owner/Operator.
  • Worked their way up through the ranks. Capable of managing multiple project teams, and handling dispute resolution.
