Job Description

What you'll be working on

  • 230kV-500kV transmission line design and upgrades for PG&E
  • Full lifecycle involvement: routing, design, review, and construction support
  • Leading PLS-CADD modeling efforts and reviewing junior engineers' work
  • Coordination across substation, civil, and environmental teams
  • Supporting wildfire mitigation and system reliability initiatives



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead transmission line design for 115kV-500kV projects (routing, structure spotting, sag/tension, clearances)
  • Perform and review PLS-CADD / PLS-POLE models and calculations
  • Provide engineering oversight and QA/QC on design packages prior to issuance
  • Stamp and sign design deliverables as the Engineer of Record (as needed)
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers on best practices and technical standards
  • Coordinate with substation, civil, geotechnical, and environmental teams
  • Support project planning, scope development, and schedule adherence
  • Interface with utility clients (including PG&E) on design reviews and technical discussions
  • Review survey data, LiDAR, and topographic inputs for accurate modeling
  • Support construction activities, including RFI responses and field issue resolution
  • Ensure designs meet NESC, CPUC, and client-specific standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards

The Successful Applicant

A successful Transmission Line III (PE Required) should have:

  • A valid Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Strong knowledge of high-voltage transmission line design and construction.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with teams and clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines efficiently.
