Job Description

  • Daily oversight of the Compliance program ensuring effectiveness and timely completion of tasks
  • Oversight and escalations associated with daily life-of-a-trade reviews, targeted business conduct standard reviews and conducting associated trend analyses and remediation as warranted.
  • Participate in the completion of the annual compliance audit and thematic reviews by the firm's designated self-regulatory organization
  • Leading complex projects and play a leadership role for compliance within the organization
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Risk Management, Internal Audit, Human Resources, etc.) to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution.
  • Consult with Corporate Counsel as needed to resolve difficult legal compliance issues or emerging regulatory areas
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops and/or implement corrective action plans and provide general guidance on control enhancements for the future
  • Oversees the distribution of quarterly and annual notices to counter parties as required by Regulation
  • Assists in reviewing promotional material produced by the firm.
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance.

The Successful Applicant

    • Leading the creation, execution, and continued development of an effective company-wide risk governance framework
    • Support the application of the risk management framework to establish industry best practices within the regional office. Seeking appropriate support and input of the expertise within the Head Office risk function
    • Implementing, managing and maintaining the Risk Management Program to identify, assess, respond, monitor, and report on risks on an ongoing basis
    • Monitoring of cyber-threats and data privacy procedures
    • Work in tandem with other regional and Head Office staff to keep the Operational Risk Management System up-to-date with all loss events, issues, actions, risk and control self-assessment exercises and metrics.
    • Maintaining a standardized risk framework and methodology, and disseminating the guidance across the organization
    • Partnering with various functions, including Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Finance to inventory key risks and controls
    • Facilitating the development, enhancement, and/or formalization of key policies, procedures, monitoring, and reporting
    • Identifying meaningful success criteria and metrics to report on the effectiveness of the Risk Management Program and the overall control environment
    • Developing standardized reporting and escalation procedures to senior leadership for all risk areas, including strategic, emerging, and operational risks
    • Managing and maintaining the Risk Governance policies, procedures, and processes, including but not limited to, third-party risk management, issues management, and model governance
    • Providing ongoing support to stakeholders and cross functional teams to ensure continuous improvement in an ever-changing fast-paced environment
    • Assisting in evaluations, risk impact assessments, internal or external audits as needed
    • Coordinating external consultants for information security and audits
