Our client is looking to add on a VP of Development - East to lead the development function across the East Region. The VP of Development - East will be responsible for leading a team of 6 in their efforts to continue to drive their portfolio of solar and storage projects from origination through to NTP across 19 states in the East Region.

Job Description

The VP of Development - East will be responsible for:

  • Effectively and strategically lead a team of 6 direct reports in their mission to drive projects from inception to NTP.
  • Prepare and present development updates, risks, and project progress.
  • Guide internal team members to develop best practices in project development and execution.
  • Support strategic planning around portfolio growth, prioritization of development assets, and market analysis.
  • Oversee all permitting, interconnection, environmental, and engineering workstreams, ensuring project milestones are met.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with utility partners, permitting authorities, and key stakeholders.
  • Drive project readiness by ensuring critical path items are proactively identified and resolved.
  • Coordinate and manage cross-functional efforts across legal, finance, permitting, engineering, and external consultants.
  • Serve as the internal owner of project timelines, budgets, and risk management through NTP.

The Successful Applicant

The VP of Development - East will have

  • 8-15+ years of experience in renewable energy development, with a strong track record of leading distributed generation (5MW-20MW) solar projects through to NTP across PJM and/or ISO-NE.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team, fostering accountability, performance, and professional growth.
  • Deep understanding of the U.S. distributed generation landscape, including permitting processes, utility interconnection, and grid constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills, providing visibility as a leader.
  • Familiarity with regional market dynamics, especially in high-DG/community scale opportunity states.
  • Experience taking projects through to COD is a plus.
  • Knowledge of governmental mandates, environmental regulations or customer/market signals that impact or facilitate new development of renewable projects
  • Bachelor's degree.

$180,000 - $225,000 base salary
