The company is respected for their innovative investment approach in the multifamily sector across the Southeast US / Sunbelt markets.Job Description Our client is seeking a strategic, operational, growth-minded, and process-oriented Director / VP of Finance. Reporting to founders of the firm the VP of Finance will be a key member of leadership team with full responsibility for all finance and accounting operations. The VP of Finance will implement structure around existing and new accounting processes, while not being afraid to challenge the status quo. The Firm has ambitions to grow their portfolio in 2024 and this is a key hire to support this growth.Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analyses for the fund/portfolioMaintenance of books and records, recording of transactions and accruals, and oversee all aspects of accounting, including treasury, financial reporting, and balance sheet management.Provide GAAP guidance and support within the company; provide recommendations to leadership as neededReview monthly and quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure records adhere to company policies and GAAPAssist in identification and underwriting of new investment opportunitiesEstablish and maintain relationships with key capital markets firms. Other key qualities:CPA and/or Masters strongly preferred.Strong understanding of real estate investment ventures and the real estate development processTransaction Experience: Significant experience in real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, financing, and joint ventures.Fund experience: financial management of real estate investment funds, including fund accounting, budgeting, and reporting. Implemented fund-level financial strategies to optimize performance and returns. Managed fund cash flow, including capital calls, distributions, and liquidity management. Prepared and reviewed quarterly and annual financial statements for multiple funds.Monitored and managed fund-level risks, including market, credit, and operational risks.Led the valuation process for fund assets, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.Process improvement minded professional who is always looking to improve efficiency and accuracy of the finance function.Excellent analytical skills with a strong understanding of real estate multifamily financial metrics. Understands internal/external market activity and knowledgeable on overall housing market trendsExperience supporting fund raising for various real estate investment vehicles a plus.Local candidates only please; this position will be in office but can be based in Houston, TX OR Austin, TXWhat's on OfferAs this is a newly created position our client is committed to hiring the right individual versus someone who sit in a defined salary band however they expect to pay roughly $170,000 - $225,000 depending on experience.
