The VP, LevFin Credit Risk OFficer will focus on leveraged buyout (LBO) transactions and leveraged finance counterparties. The VP will be responsible for leading credit approval processes, assessing leveraged capital structures, and monitoring exposure to private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, and related financing arrangements.

Job Description

Credit Underwriting & Approval
Lead the credit approval process for new LBO financings, refinancings, amendments, incremental debt requests, and sponsor‑backed transactions.
Evaluate business models, cash flow durability, leverage profiles, liquidity, and refinancing risk.
Assess sponsor quality, equity contribution, governance dynamics, exit strategies, and historical performance.
Analyze transaction structures including covenants, collateral packages, intercreditor terms, and downside scenarios.
Prepare detailed credit memoranda with recommendations on limits, mitigants, and structural enhancements.
Portfolio Monitoring & Surveillance
Oversee ongoing monitoring of leveraged loan exposures across sectors and sponsor portfolios.
Track performance indicators such as covenant headroom, liquidity trends, operational developments, rating migrations, and industry risks.
Identify early‑warning signs and escalate material credit deterioration or structural vulnerabilities.
Maintain accurate exposure data and support periodic portfolio analytics for senior risk leadership.
Stakeholder Engagement & Governance
Present credit decisions, risk assessments, and portfolio insights to credit committees.
Partner with front‑office deal teams, legal, operations, and finance on transaction structuring, documentation, and risk controls.
Contribute to internal audits, regulatory examinations, and policy enhancements related to leveraged finance risk management.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or related field; advanced credentials (CFA, FRM, MBA) a plus.
  • 6-10+ years of experience in leveraged finance, LBO credit risk, private credit underwriting, or similar fields.
  • Strong understanding of LBO modeling, sponsor dynamics, covenant and documentation analysis, and leveraged loan markets.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to articulate risk views to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple transactions concurrently.
