Found a new job? If you’re currently employed, you now have to tell your manager you’re leaving soon. Use the following resignation letter examples to get the ball rolling.

Things to keep in mind

Your resignation letter should be clear and concise. If there's more to the story behind your decision, save that conversation for a meeting with your manager.

A good resignation letter covers a few key things: the date, your last day, your current title, and a friendly note that keeps the relationship warm.

Address the letter to your direct supervisor, or in some cases, HR. If it doesn't reach the right person the first time, follow up with whoever you sent it to that same day, and make sure it lands where it needs to.

Once you know who you’re sending the letter to, it’s time to start writing it. Below are two examples of a good resignation letter.
