Job Description

  • Lead and develop Application Engineering and Technical Service teams.
  • Provide technical leadership for customer investigations and application challenges.
  • Guide root cause analysis efforts and validate technical recommendations.
  • Establish standardized laboratory and application engineering processes.
  • Mentor engineers and foster a culture of scientific rigor and customer focus.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration between Engineering, Sales, R&D, Quality, Production, and Customer Service.
  • Oversee application testing, product evaluations, and validation activities.
  • Support customer solution development and technical problem resolution.
  • Partner with Sales teams to identify product opportunities and support business growth.
  • Deliver technical training to customers, channel partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive technologies, and emerging application requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory, environmental, safety, and quality standards.
  • Promote best practices across regional and global technical support organizations.
  • Communicate investigation findings and technical recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Applications Engineering Manager should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience within laboratory, application engineering, or technical service environments.
  • Experience with adhesives, coatings, or related materials technologies preferred.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and root cause analysis expertise.
  • Experience leading customer-facing technical teams.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory testing, validation, and application development processes.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing technical personnel.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with commercial and technical teams.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems; JD Edwards experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
