Premier commercial GC is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to join its growing Raleigh and Research Triangle team. Backed by the resources of a nationally recognized ENR-ranked contractor, this opportunity offers hands-on involvement in complex, high-profile projects while working alongside experienced field leadership on some of the region's most visible developments.This client delivers award-winning projects across multifamily, higher education, healthcare, athletics, hospitality, mixed-use, senior living, and commercial sectors. Current work in the Triangle includes a $60M project, providing Assistant Superintendents the opportunity to gain exposure to large-scale, community-impact projects while developing their careers with a company known for quality, safety, self-perform expertise, and an industry-leading repeat client base.

Job Description

  • Assist the Superintendent with the day-to-day oversight of field operations on large-scale commercial construction projects.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partners to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project schedules.
  • Conduct daily site walks to monitor construction progress, quality standards, and adherence to project plans and specifications.
  • Support the development and execution of short-term look-ahead schedules and work plans.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety standards and OSHA requirements.
  • Identify and help resolve field issues, scheduling conflicts, and coordination challenges before they impact project delivery.
  • Participate in subcontractor meetings, owner meetings, and project coordination discussions.
  • Assist with inspections, punch lists, commissioning activities, and project closeout efforts.
  • Maintain accurate jobsite documentation including daily reports, safety records, and progress updates.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and project teams to deliver successful multifamily, higher education, healthcare, athletics, hospitality, and mixed-use developments.
  • Support execution on notable Triangle-area projects, including large-scale residential developments, university facilities, and athletic venues.
  • Contribute to a culture of quality, teamwork, and client satisfaction that has helped the company maintain a strong percentage of repeat business.

The Successful Applicant

  • 2+ years of commercial construction experience, preferably supporting ground-up projects.
  • Experience working on multifamily, higher education, healthcare, athletic, mixed-use, or commercial developments is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, jobsite safety, quality control, and scheduling.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Proven ability to coordinate subcontractors and maintain productive relationships on site.
  • Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to learn from experienced Superintendents.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter who can identify issues, communicate effectively, and help drive solutions.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple project priorities.
  • Passionate about building high-quality projects and developing a long-term career in construction operations.
