Job Description

Reporting into senior commercial leadership, the Business Development Manager will lead efforts to identify, evaluate, and convert new market opportunities across the United States. This is a true new-business-focused position with an emphasis on market expansion, strategic prospecting, and developing commercial opportunities from the ground up.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify and pursue new markets, applications, and customer segments that support long-term business growth.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies that expand the company's presence within industrial manufacturing sectors.
  • Build relationships with procurement leaders, engineers, operational stakeholders, and executive decision-makers.
  • Create and manage a robust pipeline of growth opportunities from qualification through commercial implementation.
  • Lead complex sales and commercialization initiatives involving multiple internal stakeholders.
  • Develop customer and market strategies based on competitive intelligence, industry trends, and customer needs.
  • Collaborate with technical, operations, logistics, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure successful execution of growth initiatives.
  • Support value-based selling through pricing strategies, margin analysis, and business case development.
  • Maintain visibility of pipeline activity, growth initiatives, and market intelligence through regular reporting and CRM management.
  • Travel nationally as needed to support customer engagement, business development activities, and market expansion efforts.

The Successful Applicant



Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in business development, market expansion, or technical sales within the steel, stainless steel, specialty metals, or broader industrial manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong understanding of metal products, grades, specifications, manufacturing processes, and industrial applications.
  • Proven ability to build territories, generate opportunities, and create revenue growth without reliance on an existing account base.
  • Experience managing complex commercial opportunities involving multiple stakeholders and long sales cycles.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in pricing, profitability analysis, and customer value creation.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to influence technical, operational, procurement, and executive-level audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Metallurgy, Marketing, or a related discipline.



Preferred Background

  • MBA or advanced business qualification.
  • Experience selling into markets such as automotive, appliance manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, mobility, defense, or other industrial sectors.
  • Experience leading cross-functional growth initiatives within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong CRM proficiency and a data-driven approach to decision making.
