Job Description

  • Manage day-to-day operations across a multi-shift chemical manufacturing department.
  • Lead, coach, train, and develop production personnel to achieve operational and safety targets.
  • Drive adherence to safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, communicate, and execute production schedules to meet customer and business demands.
  • Coordinate material flow, inventory requirements, and raw material availability to support production needs.
  • Collaborate with engineering, laboratory, maintenance, and operational teams to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Monitor equipment performance and initiate maintenance activities when required.
  • Analyze operational challenges, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain and improve standard operating procedures, work instructions, and quality documentation.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and assist with engineering projects and production transfers.
  • Monitor departmental performance against operational and budgetary objectives.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and compliant manufacturing environment at all times.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be an experienced production leader with a strong background in chemical manufacturing, process operations, or a related industrial environment. They will demonstrate a proactive leadership style, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.Key requirements include:

  • Significant supervisory or management experience within a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.
  • Strong understanding of chemical production processes and safe handling practices.
  • Experience training, mentoring, and developing production teams.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, procedures, and safety information.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, continuous improvement methodologies, and operational best practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, ERP systems such as SAP, and production databases.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make sound operational and personnel decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across multiple departments.
  • Degree in Chemistry or a related discipline preferred; equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
  • Experience supporting engineering or process improvement projects is advantageous.
