We are seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead all estimating and preconstruction activities across the organization. The Chief Estimator is responsible for developing competitive, accurate, and profitable bids for heavy civil, highway, bridge, paving, sitework, utility, aviation, rail, and infrastructure projects while building and leading a high-performing estimating team.

About Our Client

My Client is a Major Heavy Civil Contractor with a National Footprint. Handling projects ranging from Bridge, Heavy Highway, Aviation, Marine, Rail, Sitework and Utilities.

Job Description

  • Lead the preparation of accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Analyze project requirements, drawings, and specifications to determine costs.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project goals.
  • Develop and maintain cost databases and estimation tools.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitiveness and compliance.
  • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and strategies.
  • Provide detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders on project estimates.
  • Stay updated on market trends and material costs to ensure accuracy in estimates.

The Successful Applicant

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and extensive industry experience will be considered.



Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
  • 7+ years of management experience leading estimating or preconstruction teams.
  • Proven success estimating large-scale infrastructure projects valued from $5 million to $250+ million.
  • Significant experience with DOT, municipal, transportation, and infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in asphalt paving, roadway, bridge, sitework, and utility construction environments.
