The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of sitework projects while collaborating closely with operations, project management, and business development teams.

Job Description

  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for civil sitework projects.
  • Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents to identify project requirements.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations.
  • Analyze labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs to develop competitive bids.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client meetings as required.
  • Collaborate with project management and field operations teams to ensure estimating accuracy.
  • Maintain and update estimating databases, cost histories, and bid records.
  • Identify risks, value engineering opportunities, and alternative construction methods.
  • Prepare bid proposals and supporting documentation for submission.
  • Assist with project handoff meetings following successful contract awards.
  • Stay informed on market trends, material pricing, and industry best practices.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of estimating experience within civil construction, site development, earthwork, utilities, paving, grading, or related disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed project estimates.
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, Bluebeam, Bid2Win, or comparable platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of local subcontractor and supplier markets is highly desirable.
  • Self-motivated with a strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
