The Senior Estimator will be responsible for leading all aspects of the estimating process, including quantity takeoffs, subcontractor and vendor solicitation, cost analysis, bid preparation, and risk assessment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy civil construction, earthwork, utilities, paving, site development, transportation, or related infrastructure projects.

Job Description

  • Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for construction projects ranging from $1M to $100M+.
  • Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and develop pricing strategies.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
  • Collaborate with operations, project management, and executive leadership during bid development.
  • Analyze project risks and identify value engineering opportunities.
  • Prepare bid proposals, schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, job walks, and client presentations as needed.
  • Track market trends, labor rates, material costs, and production factors.
  • Support project handoff meetings upon successful award.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction, infrastructure, sitework, earthwork, utilities, roadway, paving, or related disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and sequencing.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience reviewing engineered drawings and specifications.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.



Preferred Experience

  • DOT, municipal, utility, roadway, site development, or infrastructure project estimating experience.
  • Knowledge of HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or similar estimating tools.
  • Experience with public sector bidding and procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with self-perform construction operations.
