Job Description

  • Prepare conceptual, budgetary, and hard-bid estimates for civil, concrete, and commercial construction projects.
  • Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents to determine project scope and costs.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, foundations, site utilities, concrete structures, paving, and related scopes.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Develop detailed bid proposals, scopes of work, and bid packages.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as required.
  • Coordinate closely with operations teams to ensure smooth project handoff upon award.
  • Analyze project risks and develop appropriate pricing strategies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of labor rates, material costs, equipment pricing, and market trends.
  • Assist with project budgeting, change order pricing, and cost analysis throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, clients, and industry partners.

The Successful Applicant

  • 5+ years of estimating experience in construction, civil, sitework, excavation, and/or concrete projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and means and methods associated with civil and concrete work.
  • Experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed estimates.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the Central Pennsylvania region.
