Job Description

The Director of Development will report to the Senior Vice President of Development and be responsible for leading multifamily and mixed-use developments across key Southeast markets. Working closely with internal design, construction, capital markets, and operations teams, the Director of Development will drive projects from due diligence through delivery.

  • Lead feasibility analysis and development management activities across a portfolio of multifamily and mixed-use projects
  • Conduct market research and maintain detailed knowledge of rental trends, land values, investment sales, supply pipelines, and competitive developments
  • Perform financial underwriting, sensitivity analysis, and investment evaluations for prospective development opportunities
  • Manage entitlement, zoning, permitting, and regulatory approval processes through to construction readiness
  • Coordinate due diligence activities including environmental studies, geotechnical investigations, market analyses, utility reviews, and consultant management
  • Partner with design, planning, and construction teams to establish project direction, budgets, schedules, and execution strategies
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with municipalities, consultants, community stakeholders, investors, and external partners throughout the development lifecycle

The Successful Applicant

For the Director of Development we are seeking:

  • 6+ years of multifamily real estate experience, including at least 4 years focused directly on development
  • Demonstrated experience managing development projects through due diligence, entitlements, design, construction, and stabilisation
  • Strong financial modelling, underwriting, and investment analysis capabilities
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Experience working with municipalities, consultants, architects, engineers, contractors, and external stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills
  • Knowledge of multifamily and mixed-use development within high-growth markets preferred
