Job Description



  • Financial Close & Reporting


    • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, including the close calendar, assignments, reviews, issue resolution, and final deliverables.


    • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial statement analyses to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.


    • Analyze balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow results to identify significant variances, trends, risks, and required adjustments.


    • Prepare and oversee internal and external financial reporting, lender schedules, management requests, and accounting commentary for executive leadership.


    • Maintain strong review procedures and accountability throughout the close and reporting process.



    General Ledger, Inventory & Balance Sheet Integrity



    • Maintain oversight of the general ledger and ensure assigned accounts are reconciled, supported, reviewed, and resolved within established timelines.


    • Oversee accounting for inventory, reserves, accruals, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, intercompany transactions, and other complex or judgment-based accounts.


    • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance leadership to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, costing issues, reserve requirements, and unusual transactions.


    • Establish and maintain accounting policies, documentation standards, review procedures, and approval thresholds for recurring and non-routine transactions.


    • Promote strong balance sheet discipline through timely reconciliation, investigation, and resolution of outstanding items.



    Controls, Compliance & Audit



    • Ensure accounting activities are performed in accordance with GAAP, internal policies, established controls, debt requirements, and applicable financial reporting standards.


    • Lead external audit preparation and coordination, including schedules, walkthroughs, documentation requests, issue resolution, and management responses.


    • Identify control deficiencies and process risks, establish corrective action plans, and monitor remediation through completion.


    • Strengthen accounting documentation, review procedures, and financial reporting controls to improve reliability and reduce risk.


    • Coordinate accounting support for tax, treasury, debt compliance, insurance, and other external reporting requirements.



    Accounting Operations & Working Capital



    • Establish service standards, approval controls, aging review procedures, escalation protocols, and performance measures for accounts receivable and accounts payable activities.


    • Monitor receivables, payables, cash activity, deductions, credit exposure, and other working-capital trends.


    • Ensure exceptions, aged balances, and outstanding items are investigated and resolved in a timely manner.


    • Establish clear responsibilities, workflows, and handoffs across general accounting, working-capital, and financial close activities.


    • Partner with Finance and operational teams to improve visibility into working-capital performance and accounting-related business risks.



    Team Leadership, Systems & Process Improvement



    • Lead, coach, and develop accounting professionals while establishing clear priorities, workload expectations, quality standards, and individual accountability.


    • Build effective operating routines, review requirements, cross-training programs, succession coverage, and technical development across the accounting function.


    • Promote a culture of ownership, accuracy, collaboration, continuous improvement, and timely execution.


    • Lead or support ERP enhancements, system implementations, master data improvements, new business initiatives, and special accounting projects.


    • Standardize and streamline close, reconciliation, reporting, and data processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, scalability, and visibility.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • CPA, CMA, or similar professional certification.
  • Public accounting experience, preferably with a large national or international accounting firm
  • Experience supporting consumer products, manufacturing, retail, distribution, or other product-based organizations.
  • Exposure to ERP implementations, finance transformation programs, or large-scale process improvements.
  • Experience working within private equity-backed, high-growth, or rapidly evolving businesses.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience with increasing leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience leading financial close, reporting, controls, and accounting operations.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial statements, account reconciliations, and audit requirements.
  • Experience with inventory accounting in manufacturing, consumer products, retail, distribution, or other inventory-intensive environments.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop accounting teams.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
