Job Description



Safety Leadership & Program Development

  • Establish and lead the organization's industrial safety management system.
  • Develop company-wide environmental, health, and safety policies, standards, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Build and sustain a strong safety culture that supports innovation, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Develop safety performance metrics, reporting systems, and monitoring processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Create contractor safety programs and oversight processes.
  • Provide strategic direction for long-term safety planning and organizational growth.



Test Facility & Engineering Safety

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for safety within advanced testing operations.
  • Lead Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), and formal risk assessments.
  • Develop safe operating procedures for high-energy, high-pressure, and complex test systems.
  • Establish and oversee Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and energy control programs.
  • Develop requirements for electrical safety, confined space entry, pressure systems, and other specialized safety programs.
  • Create procedures for startup, shutdown, maintenance, and emergency response activities.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews to ensure safety considerations are incorporated early in equipment development.
  • Evaluate engineering changes and operational modifications for potential safety impacts.
  • Coordinate safety readiness reviews prior to commissioning new equipment or initiating test activities.



Manufacturing & Operational Safety

  • Design and implement manufacturing safety programs supporting production operations.
  • Establish machine guarding, ergonomic, and material handling standards.
  • Develop chemical management and hazardous materials control programs.
  • Oversee industrial hygiene initiatives and workplace exposure assessments.
  • Define personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and compliance programs.
  • Support safe installation, startup, and operation of manufacturing equipment.
  • Monitor production environments to ensure ongoing compliance with safety requirements.



Risk Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead investigations of safety incidents, near misses, and workplace events.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Track safety actions to completion and verify effectiveness.
  • Monitor leading and lagging safety indicators to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Perform routine workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Develop continuous improvement initiatives that reduce operational risk and strengthen safety performance.



Training & Employee Development

  • Design, implement, and manage comprehensive safety training programs.
  • Deliver and maintain training programs covering:
    • New employee onboarding
    • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
    • Electrical safety
    • Hazard communication
    • Personal protective equipment
    • Fall protection
    • Forklift operation
    • Crane and rigging safety
    • Fire prevention and response
    • Emergency response procedures
    • Confined space entry
    • Pressure system safety
  • Maintain employee training records and qualification requirements.
  • Coach managers, supervisors, and employees on safety leadership and best practices.



Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations, including:
    • OSHA
    • NFPA
    • ANSI
    • EPA
    • State and local regulatory requirements
  • Support inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

The Successful Applicant



Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive industrial safety experience.
  • Demonstrated success establishing and leading safety programs within industrial, manufacturing, testing, or engineering environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience conducting hazard assessments, risk analyses, and safety reviews.
  • Experience leading incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Proven ability to develop safety procedures, policies, and management systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, operations leaders, and executive management.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience working with high-pressure systems, industrial gases, or complex energy systems.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment, turbomachinery, power generation, or process manufacturing operations.
  • Experience supporting prototype development, R&D laboratories, or testing facilities.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management systems.
  • Experience within startup, scaling, or rapidly growing manufacturing organizations.
