Job Description

The Director of Operations will:

  • Lead all operational functions including manufacturing, production, materials management, supply chain, quality, engineering, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies that support growth, profitability, productivity, and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Build, mentor, and develop high-performing teams while promoting accountability and collaboration across departments.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on operational KPIs to ensure performance targets are achieved.
  • Partner with commercial, engineering, program management, and executive teams to align operational resources with customer requirements.
  • Lead capacity planning, workforce planning, and resource allocation activities to support forecasted business growth.
  • Identify and implement initiatives that increase efficiency, optimize throughput, reduce waste, and improve operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service through consistent product quality, on-time delivery, and responsiveness.
  • Support strategic planning, capital investment decisions, and long-range business objectives.
  • Foster a culture of safety, engagement, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

The Successful Applicant

The Director of Operations should have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive operations leadership experience within manufacturing environments.
  • Proven success managing multiple operational functions and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, supply chain management, quality systems, and operational best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and operational performance metrics.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and team development skills.
  • Results-driven leader with the ability to influence, motivate, and deliver change within complex organizations.
  • Experience within Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS), contract manufacturing, electronics assembly, aerospace & defense, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing sectors highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, production planning, and high-mix, low-to-medium volume manufacturing environments.
