The Director of Operations provides leadership, direction, and strategic oversight for manufacturing operations within a highly regulated medical device environment. This role is responsible for driving operational performance, developing high-performing teams, improving efficiency, and ensuring the successful execution of site objectives related to quality, delivery, cost, and growth.

Job Description

  • Lead overall manufacturing operations and site performance
  • Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost, and capacity
  • Oversee production, engineering, warehouse, and inventory management functions
  • Establish performance metrics and accountability measures
  • Ensure facilities, equipment, and processes support efficient operations
  • Improve lead times, productivity, and manufacturing performance
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales teams
  • Support short- and long-term business planning initiatives
  • Lead capacity planning and resource optimization efforts
  • Develop high-performing teams through coaching and mentorship
  • Foster a culture of operational excellence, safety, and compliance
  • Support customer requirements and strategic growth initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, GMP, ISO, and regulatory standards

The Successful Applicant

A successful Director of Operations should have:

  • BS in Engineering strongly preferred
  • 8+ years of manufacturing leadership experience
  • Medical device manufacturing experience preferred
  • Experience in precision machining or metals manufacturing environments
  • Background in aerospace, automotive, nuclear, or other regulated industries a plus
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Strong understanding of machining, fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing processes
  • Working knowledge of capacity planning, logistics, and production management
  • Experience managing operational budgets and business performance metrics
  • Knowledge of FDA GMP, ISO 13485, and regulated manufacturing requirements
  • Six Sigma Green Belt, and/or Lean Manufacturing expertise preferred
  • Strong customer-facing communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Strategic thinker with strong business and operational acumen
