Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President of Construction, the Director of Project Management & Preconstruction will provide leadership across project delivery, preconstruction, financial performance, and team development. This role combines hands-on project oversight with broader departmental leadership.

  • Lead the delivery of large-scale commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for project teams, supporting Project Managers across the portfolio.
  • Manage and develop Project Managers while providing operational leadership to estimating, buyout, and scheduling functions.
  • Oversee preconstruction activities, including estimating, scope development, budgeting, constructability reviews, and procurement strategy.
  • Drive financial performance through budget management, forecasting, change order administration, risk mitigation, and margin protection.
  • Establish and maintain project management standards, reporting procedures, and operational best practices across the organization.
  • Champion schedule performance, quality assurance, safety excellence, and strong client relationships throughout project execution.

The Successful Applicant

For the Director of Project Management & Preconstruction we are seeking:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive commercial construction experience with demonstrated leadership on projects valued at $20M+.
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring, and developing Project Managers and project teams.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction operations, project controls, contract administration, and risk management.
  • Experience implementing and improving processes across project delivery and preconstruction functions.
  • Advanced proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and digital project management tools.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and change management processes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • OSHA 30 certification, or willingness to obtain shortly after joining.
  • Preferred experience overseeing preconstruction or estimating teams and working with sophisticated institutional or developer clients.
  • LEED accreditation or sustainability-related credentials are advantageous.
