Job Description



Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Provide leadership and direction across Engineering, Estimating, and Quality functions.
  • Mentor and develop technical personnel while fostering accountability and professional growth.
  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships throughout the organization.
  • Establish departmental objectives aligned with business goals.
  • Serve as a visible leader who commands credibility and respect throughout the company.



Manufacturing & Engineering Excellence

  • Guide manufacturing process development, optimization, and implementation.
  • Support CNC machining operations with expertise in tooling, fixturing, machining methods, and process improvement.
  • Lead initiatives focused on productivity gains, quality enhancement, and cycle-time reduction.
  • Provide technical direction for complex manufacturing challenges and root-cause investigations.
  • Ensure engineering standards, documentation, and manufacturing instructions remain current and effective.



Customer & Business Engagement

  • Serve as a technical resource and point of contact for key customers.
  • Participate in customer meetings, manufacturability reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Partner with commercial teams to support new business development opportunities.
  • Build confidence with customers through strong communication and technical expertise.



Estimating & Commercial Support

  • Oversee quotation and cost-estimating activities.
  • Evaluate customer drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Support the development of accurate labor, material, tooling, and subcontractor cost projections.
  • Analyze quote performance and project profitability to improve business results.



Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner closely with the Quality team to maintain compliance with ISO and customer-specific requirements.
  • Drive corrective actions, root-cause analysis, and preventative quality initiatives.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing principles and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Improve processes that enhance operational efficiency, product quality, and customer satisfaction.



Strategic Leadership

  • Contribute to long-range business planning and operational strategy.
  • Support capital equipment planning and technology investments.
  • Track departmental metrics and performance indicators.
  • Help position the organization for continued growth in key markets, particularly medical device manufacturing.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience within precision machining, CNC manufacturing, aerospace manufacturing, or similar high-precision industries.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, GD&T, tooling, fixturing, and manufacturing methods.
  • Proven ability to engage directly with customers and represent the organization in technical discussions.
  • Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement mindset.
  • Natural leadership presence with the ability to influence teams and drive accountability.



Preferred

  • Experience with Swiss-style CNC machining.
  • Background supporting aerospace, medical device, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience leading engineering or technical teams.
  • Exposure to ERP/MRP systems, CAD/CAM platforms, and quality management systems.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or related continuous improvement training/certifications.
