Job Description

  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for commercial construction projects ranging from ground-up to interior renovations
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to develop accurate bid proposals
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids, ensuring scope coverage and competitiveness
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and executives during preconstruction and bid strategy meetings
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives without compromising quality or schedule
  • Manage bid schedules, deadlines, and deliverables across multiple concurrent projects
  • Maintain historical cost data and build relationships with subcontractors and vendors
  • Assist with contract negotiations and participate in project handoff meetings post-award

The Successful Applicant

  • 3-8+ years of experience in commercial construction estimating with a general contractor
  • Proven ability to estimate projects in sectors such as retail, office, healthcare, or light industrial
  • Strong proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and local market pricing
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a proactive, solutions focused approach
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
