Job Description

  • Prepare detailed construction cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated opportunities.
  • Review plans, specifications, and project documentation to develop accurate pricing strategies.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and establish labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
  • Analyze project risks, market conditions, and historical pricing data to improve estimate accuracy.
  • Coordinate with operations and project management teams to ensure alignment on project scope and execution.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and walkthroughs to gather critical project information.
  • Develop and maintain bid packages, cost databases, and estimating records.
  • Prepare change order pricing and budget revisions as required.
  • Track bid results and identify trends to improve estimating performance and win rates.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and industry partners.
  • Contribute to strategic bid planning and project selection initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

  • 5+ years of construction estimating experience.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and pricing.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Experience preparing quantity takeoffs and comprehensive project estimates.
  • Skilled in subcontractor management, bid leveling, and vendor relationship development.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment capabilities.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
