Our client is in search of an Estimator to join their growing team and help support long-term growth for the business and for themselves. You will work with a team of 5 and report only to the company President. This is a team environment offering market-leading incentive bonuses and promoting a market-leading company culture. Very limited traveling will be involved.

My client provides Construction Management and General Contracting services to clients in the Commercial markets. They foster relationships with their clients to add value and perform primarily within a two-hour radius of Birmingham.

Most projects fall between the $10M - $50M value range, however they will also bid on larger work as a team.

Job Description

  • Guide projects through the preconstruction phase and assist with material / subcontract acquisition throughout the entire project life cycle
  • Operate independently on smaller projects, and as a team on larger work
  • Gather and post Bid Documents
  • Review Bid Documents to determine Scope of Work per trade
  • Contact potential subcontractors
  • Develop Material and Labor quantity take off for work performed
  • Prepare Estimate Summary for Bids
  • Compile and analyze Subcontractor and supplier proposals to determine the best value
  • Develop preliminary project schedules
  • Review post bid information to assure scopes of work are correct and accurate
  • Assist the project manager in preparing change order requests

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field desired but equivilant proven experience is also acceptable
  • 5+ years of experience in an Estimating / Preconstruction role within a Commercial GC
  • Proficient in Cost Reporting and other Estimating softwares required
  • Desire to interact with both clients and industry peers in order to develop and maintain relationships
  • Excellent communication sills
  • Performance-driven attitude
  • Desire to grow career in Birmingham, AL
