We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join a leading construction organization in Philadelphia. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, evaluating project risks, and supporting preconstruction efforts on a variety of commercial construction projects. The Estimator will play a key role in helping secure new business while ensuring projects are positioned for success from the outset.

Job Description

  • Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
  • Develop comprehensive project budgets and proposals.
  • Analyze project scope and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Assess project risks and provide strategic bidding recommendations.
  • Collaborate with project management and preconstruction teams.
  • Maintain estimating databases and historical cost records.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations.
  • Assist with value engineering and alternative pricing exercises.
  • Ensure all estimates are completed accurately and within deadlines.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Building and Construction Estimator should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Commitment to accuracy, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
