Job Description

  • Prepare detailed construction cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze material, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and ownership teams during preconstruction planning.
  • Identify potential project risks and opportunities for value engineering.
  • Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and project budgets.
  • Maintain current pricing databases and estimating records.
  • Review construction documents to ensure estimate accuracy and completeness.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
  • Support contract negotiations and project handoff activities.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Building and Construction Estimator should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of estimating experience within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and project delivery processes.
  • Experience with quantity takeoffs and cost estimating for commercial, industrial, or residential projects.
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Sage Estimating, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar platforms.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Office Suite skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
