Job Description

  • Prepare detailed construction estimates from conceptual design through final bid submission.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing analyses for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
  • Develop project budgets and cost models during preconstruction.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering alternatives.
  • Participate in bid reviews, scope analysis, and project strategy meetings.
  • Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
  • Assist with proposal preparation and bid submissions.
  • Support the project team during project handoff and startup activities.
  • Stay current on market conditions, labor trends, and material pricing.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Building and Construction Estimator should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of estimating experience within commercial construction.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building systems.
  • Experience estimating commercial, multifamily, healthcare, institutional, or industrial projects.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, Sage Estimating, or similar software.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and financial acumen.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Experience working with subcontractors and suppliers throughout the bidding process.
