Founded in 1960, the company specializes in heavy earthwork, underground utilities, paving, and site development projects, leveraging advanced GPS technology and a large fleet of equipment to deliver high-quality civil construction services.

Job Description

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and competitive bid proposals for heavy civil and sitework projects.
  • Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents to assess project scope and risk.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing for labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor scopes.
  • Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Develop accurate production rates and project budgets utilizing historical cost data and market trends.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope review sessions as required.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, and operations leadership during the estimating process.
  • Prepare bid packages and assist with proposal submissions.
  • Maintain a database of subcontractors, suppliers, and historical project costs.
  • Support project handoff meetings upon award to ensure a seamless transition to the operations team.
  • Monitor market conditions and material pricing to maintain estimating accuracy.

The Successful Applicant

  • 7+ years of estimating experience within heavy civil construction, sitework, excavation, utilities, roadway, paving, or related construction sectors.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, project scheduling, and cost control principles.
  • Experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed bid estimates.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of regional construction markets throughout New Jersey and surrounding areas is highly desirable.
