Job Description

  • Manage day-to-day operations of excavation and sitework projects
  • Oversee grading, trenching, utilities installation, and earthmoving activities
  • Supervise field crews, subcontractors, and equipment operators
  • Enforce safety standards, conduct toolbox talks, and ensure OSHA compliance
  • Coordinate schedules, deliveries, and subcontractor sequencing
  • Read and interpret plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports
  • Track progress, production rates, and report updates to project management
  • Identify and resolve site challenges, including soil conditions, weather impacts, and unforeseen obstacles
  • Maintain quality control standards and ensure work meets project specifications
  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for clients, inspectors, and internal stakeholders

The Successful Applicant

  • 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent or Foreman in excavation or heavy civil/sitework
  • Strong expertise in earthwork, utilities, grading, and site development
  • Proven ability to lead crews and manage field operations independently
  • Solid understanding of construction drawings, elevations, and layout
  • Hands-on leadership style with strong problem-solving ability
  • Knowledge of safety standards and commitment to maintaining a safe job site
  • Excellent communication skills with both field teams and project stakeholders
  • Experience working in the Central PA market is a strong plus
  • CDL or equipment operation experience is beneficial but not required
