Job Description

The General Superintendent - High-End Interiors - Bethesda, MD will be responsible for:

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight across multiple active projects simultaneously, identifying risks, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Mentor, coach, and support Superintendents and field teams while fostering accountability, professional growth, and project success.
  • Partner with project teams to develop schedules, construction strategies, logistics plans, and execution plans.
  • Assist teams with subcontractor management, coordination challenges, means and methods, and field leadership support as needed.
  • Monitor project performance, budgets, schedules, quality standards, and safety compliance across the portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, ownership, design teams, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
  • Lead construction efforts on hospitality, restaurant, commercial interior, historic restoration, rehabilitation, and adaptive reuse projects.
  • Oversee projects involving complex restoration scopes including masonry, roofing, waterproofing, structural stabilization, façade restoration, millwork, architectural metals, and specialty finishes.
  • Review project documentation, progress reports, and field operations to ensure successful project execution.
  • Help maintain exceptional quality standards on high-end, design-focused projects with premium finishes.
  • Ensure project teams maintain safe jobsites while protecting occupied facilities, historic elements, and public-facing environments.
  • Serve as a trusted operational resource capable of evaluating every project within the business and determining where support is needed most.

The Successful Applicant

A successful General Superintendent - High-End Interiors - Bethesda, MD should have:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Superintendent, General Superintendent, or similar field leadership role within commercial construction.
  • Track record managing multiple projects simultaneously, ideally overseeing four to five active projects at one time.
  • Experience with hospitality, restaurant, commercial interiors, historic restoration, rehabilitation, adaptive reuse, or preservation-focused construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction operations, scheduling, subcontractor management, quality control, and safety.
  • Experience leading complex building envelope, structural restoration, façade, masonry, or specialty restoration scopes is highly preferred.
  • Ability to mentor and develop Superintendents while building strong relationships with project teams.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High emotional intelligence with a collaborative and supportive leadership style.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality construction projects.
  • Ability to travel throughout Washington, DC and the I-495 Beltway region.
