This is an Industrial Engineer opportunity with a manufacturer of various seating and home comfort products, that has been around for over 100 years. This role will oversee R&D efforts, drive continuous improvement, and manage various machining processes.

Our client is a privately-owned manufacturing company based in Chicago (near Midway Airport) that produces various consumer goods like chairs, bar-stools, and components for residential and commercial use. Founded in the early 1900s, it has evolved from a simple metal products business into a more complex, global supplier of customizable seating and one of the largest swivel manufacturers in the U.S!

Job Description

  • Work out on the floor daily with production personnel
  • Run the R&D Department, getting involved in various reliability testing
  • Lead lean and CI projects, improving quality control
  • Work with the Tool and Die manager
  • Improve process flow and layout out on the floor
  • Work with senior leadership on efficiency improvements
  • Maintain and make adjustments to fabrication machinery

The Successful Applicant

  • Industrial engineering or similar technical degree preferred
  • 3-5+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing
  • Experience with general fabrication - CNC, Lathes, mills, bending, presses, etc
  • Familiarity with Tool and Die making
  • Familiarity with quality control
  • Strong Lean/CI experience
  • Experience with wood, metal, and plastic fabrication a plus
  • Exposure to electrical schematics a plus
