The Lean Engineer will lead plant-level Lean initiatives across a primary manufacturing site while providing additional support to a nearby facility. This hands-on role will facilitate Kaizen events, drive continuous improvement, coach teams on Lean principles, and partner with leadership to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Job Description

  • Champion Lean initiatives and continuous improvement across multiple manufacturing operations.
  • Partner with plant and division leadership to implement and sustain Lean strategies.
  • Facilitate value stream mapping and continuous improvement initiatives across functions.
  • Lead Kaizen events from individual teams through site leadership.
  • Support steering committees, improvement teams, and High Performing Teams.
  • Apply Lean tools to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
  • Conduct regular Gemba walks and support ongoing improvement activities.
  • Establish and maintain team and value stream improvement boards.
  • Promote a PDCA-based culture and continuous progression of the Lean journey.
  • Identify waste and develop solutions to complex manufacturing and engineering challenges.
  • Analyze processes, facility layouts, constraints, tooling, materials, and production methods.
  • Partner with operators, production technicians, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Track productivity, savings, projects, and Lean metrics through internal systems.
  • Ensure continuous improvement data and reporting are accurate and complete.
  • Train and coach employees on Lean principles, tools, and problem-solving methods.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and employee engagement.
  • Support ergonomic and safe working environments through Lean initiatives.
  • Purchase tools and materials needed to support continuous improvement projects.
  • Travel up to 25% as needed to support training and manufacturing process observations.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • 2-4+ years of manufacturing and/or Lean experience.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S, Visual Management, SPC, and related Lean tools.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence teams at all levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Visio or CAD experience is a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with manufacturing, engineering, operations, and leadership teams.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification is a strong plus.
  • Experience participating in or leading major Kaizen events is a plus.
  • Must meet applicable U.S. export compliance and/or government contracting eligibility requirements.
