The Manufacturing Engineer will play a critical role in maintaining equipment reliability, improving manufacturing processes, and supporting product quality within a fast-paced production environment. This is a highly visible, hands-on position requiring a strong presence on the manufacturing floor, partnering closely with operators, maintenance, quality, and leadership teams to solve problems and drive operational performance.

Job Description

  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and support hands-on repair activities to minimize downtime.
  • Identify root causes of recurring equipment, process, and quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Improve equipment reliability through preventive maintenance, upgrades, and process improvements.
  • Support equipment installations, commissioning, startups, and capital improvement projects.
  • Optimize machine performance, uptime, yields, throughput, waste reduction, and setup times.
  • Analyze production, downtime, and quality data to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
  • Support process development, production trials, and capacity improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and improve operating procedures, process controls, work instructions, and operator training.
  • Investigate product quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support customer complaint investigations and nonconforming material resolution.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, vendors, and suppliers to solve manufacturing challenges.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer commitments.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Manufacturing Engineer should have:

  • 3-7+ years of manufacturing, process, equipment, or mechanical engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on industrial equipment troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with bearings, drives, motors, gearboxes, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, and sensors.
  • Electrical and controls troubleshooting experience including PLCs, VFDs, motors, and industrial controls preferred.
  • Strong understanding of root cause analysis, corrective actions, process controls, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in paper, converting, coating, laminating, packaging, printing, web handling, slitting, or other continuous-process manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
  • Resourceful, hands-on problem solver with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
  • Comfortable working directly on the manufacturing floor and assisting with equipment repairs when needed.
  • Strong communication, initiative, accountability, and follow-through.
