Job Description

  • Lead and develop Production Supervisors, CNC Programmers, CNC Machinists, and Production Associates.
  • Foster a culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide overall leadership for daily machine shop operations, ensuring efficient production and consistent performance.
  • Balance production priorities, staffing, equipment, and resources to meet customer requirements and delivery commitments.
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators related to safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and equipment utilization.
  • Support operations within a fast-paced contract manufacturing environment serving multiple customers and product lines.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Production Planning, and Program Management teams to support new product introductions and successful production launches.
  • Drive operational readiness and adapt manufacturing operations to changing customer demands and production requirements.
  • Identify, lead, and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational performance and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Resolve production challenges through cross-functional collaboration and effective problem-solving.
  • Lead capital equipment planning, justification, acquisition, and implementation to support future growth and operational excellence.
  • Develop team capabilities, coach future leaders, and build a high-performing manufacturing organization.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Manufacturing Operations Manager - Machine Shop should have:

  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience with significant experience in CNC machining operations.
  • Proven leadership experience managing a machine shop environment.
  • Hands-on knowledge of CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and precision machining processes.
  • Demonstrated success leading operations within a contract manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading supervisors, programmers, machinists, and production teams.
  • Experience managing capital equipment (CAPEX) projects from planning through implementation.
  • Strong communication, leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
