Job Description

  • Lead complex machine design and automation projects from concept through final delivery.
  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring successful execution against schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Design custom automation equipment, robotic systems, tooling, servo-driven machinery, and sensing solutions.
  • Produce and review engineering documentation, process diagrams, and detailed design packages.
  • Perform engineering calculations and oversee the preparation of manufacturing drawings.
  • Prepare project proposals, cost estimates, and risk assessments.
  • Build and strengthen client relationships through regular engagement and technical consultation.
  • Participate in design reviews and customer meetings to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Promote health, safety, and environmental best practices throughout project execution.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of engineering standards and processes.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions where appropriate.
  • Travel occasionally to customer sites and project locations as required.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in machine design within industrial automation environments.
  • Strong background in custom machinery, robotics, tooling, servo systems, and automation technologies.
  • Extensive experience using SolidWorks for 3D modelling and design documentation.
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale, multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, technical standards, and project management methodologies.
  • Experience creating process documentation and engineering design packages.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and customer-facing skills.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing engineering talent.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with project management software is highly desirable.
  • Professional Engineer registration or eligibility is advantageous.
  • Experience with simulation tools, proposal development, or business development is beneficial.
