Job Description

  • Perform routine microbiological testing with a focus on probiotic enumeration and assay methods
  • Develop, validate, and optimize microbiological methods for probiotics, including enumeration techniques
  • Lead and support technical projects (method transfers, validations, process improvements)
  • Serve as SME for environmental monitoring programs (EMP), including trending, investigations, and audits
  • Conduct environmental sampling (air, water, surfaces) and analyze results
  • Execute OOS investigations, root cause analysis, and CAPA related to microbiological testing
  • Maintain lab readiness: media prep, equipment calibration, inventory, and waste management
  • Write and revise SOPs, protocols, and technical documentation
  • Train lab personnel on microbiology methods, including probiotic handling and enumeration best practices
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external labs, and vendors

The Successful Applicant

A successful Microbiologist - Probiotics should have:

  • BS in Microbiology or related scientific field
  • 5-7+ years of microbiology laboratory experience
  • Hands-on experience with probiotic microbiology, including enumeration methods (e.g., plate counts, 3M Petrifilm)
  • Strong understanding of aseptic technique and GMP/GLP environments
  • Experience with OOS, non-conformance investigations, and CAPA
  • Familiarity with environmental monitoring programs
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot methods and optimize lab workflows
