Job Description

In this role you will report directly into Senior Leadership and will be responsible for:

  • Leading the development and optimisation of reactor core design to meet performance, safety, and economic objectives
  • Defining reactor physics methodologies, assumptions, and analytical approaches
  • Directing core design activities including neutronics analysis, fuel management strategies, and performance evaluations
  • Performing and reviewing reactor physics calculations including criticality, reactivity, and power distribution analyses
  • Developing and maintaining reactor physics models and ensuring verification and validation processes are followed
  • Supporting reactor safety analysis and contributing to accident analyses and licensing methodologies
  • Preparing technical documentation and reports to support regulatory interactions
  • Mentoring and developing reactor engineering staff while reviewing technical work products
  • Coordinating cross-functional efforts with thermal hydraulics, systems engineering, safety analysis, and fuel development teams
  • Implementing advanced modelling techniques, uncertainty quantification, and emerging reactor physics methodologies

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or a closely related discipline
  • Minimum 7 years of direct experience in reactor core design and reactor physics analysis
  • Strong experience using neutronics tools such as SCALE and MCNP
  • Demonstrated experience developing reactor core models and design methodologies
  • Deep understanding of reactor physics fundamentals and core behavior
  • Proven experience reviewing technical analyses and guiding engineering work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with OpenMC, licensing activities, or advanced reactor technologies preferred
