Our client is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to support equipment reliability, manufacturing performance, and product quality within a fast-paced production environment. This is not a desk-based engineering role. The successful candidate will spend significant time on the manufacturing floor working alongside operators, maintenance technicians, quality personnel, and leadership to solve problems, improve processes, and increase operational efficiency.

Job Description

  • Respond to equipment failures and assist with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair activities.
  • Support mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, controls, and process-related troubleshooting efforts.
  • Partner with production and maintenance teams to return equipment to operational status quickly and safely.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions to reduce recurring downtime.
  • Develop and enhance preventive maintenance programs and equipment reliability initiatives.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, modifications, installations, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Analyze production, downtime, and quality data to identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • Improve machine efficiency, throughput, yields, waste reduction, and changeover performance.
  • Support process optimization, production trials, and new product or process introductions.
  • Develop and refine work instructions, operating procedures, process controls, and training materials.
  • Investigate product quality concerns and determine root causes related to materials, equipment, processes, or operating practices.
  • Support quality control initiatives, corrective actions, customer complaint investigations, and nonconformance resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve documentation, traceability, process consistency, and operational performance.
  • Take ownership of manufacturing challenges and drive issues through resolution with a proactive, hands-on approach.

The Successful Applicant

  • 3+ years of manufacturing, mechanical, process, or equipment engineering experience within an industrial environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience troubleshooting industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Comfortable working directly with machinery and supporting repair activities when needed.
  • Knowledge of bearings, rollers, gearboxes, motors, drives, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, sensors, and related systems.
  • Experience with PLCs, VFDs, industrial controls, motors, and electrical troubleshooting is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of root-cause analysis, corrective actions, process controls, continuous improvement, and manufacturing quality systems.
  • Experience in continuous-process manufacturing environments such as converting, packaging, films, printing, laminating, coating, slitting, or related industries is highly relevant.
  • Analytical thinker with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, hands-on, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with others.
  • Strong communication skills, accountability, sense of urgency, and follow-through.
