Job Description

  • Lead all preconstruction efforts for big box and large-scale retail projects
  • Manage and mentor a team of estimators and preconstruction staff
  • Prepare conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and cost analyses
  • Develop bid strategies for competitive and accurate proposal submissions
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and scope documents to ensure complete coverage
  • Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier bids
  • Drive value engineering initiatives to optimize cost and constructability
  • Collaborate closely with business development, operations, and executive leadership
  • Maintain relationships with key subcontractors, vendors, and clients

The Successful Applicant

  • 8-15+ years of experience in commercial estimating or preconstruction
  • Strong experience with big box retail or large-scale commercial projects highly preferred
  • Proven leadership experience managing preconstruction or estimating teams
  • Expertise in conceptual estimating, budgeting, and cost control
  • Strong knowledge of national subcontractor markets and pricing trends
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, OST, Procore, and Excel)
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
