The Process Engineer II is responsible for improving manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and process reliability within a chemical manufacturing environment. This role will support process optimization, new product introductions, validation activities, continuous improvement initiatives, and root cause investigations while partnering closely with Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams.

Job Description

  • Improve production efficiency, process flow, and equipment utilization.
  • Analyze cycle times, bottlenecks, and changeover losses to improve OEE.
  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvements.
  • Execute scale-up activities for new and revised products.
  • Develop process parameters, trial plans, and production run documentation.
  • Apply mixing and dispersion principles to improve batch consistency and performance.
  • Standardize manufacturing processes to improve First Pass Yield (FPY).
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, control plans, and process documentation.
  • Perform process validation activities and maintain validation records.
  • Utilize SPC and data analysis tools to monitor process capability and performance.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Resolve manufacturing and customer-related process issues.
  • Create and maintain PFMEAs, process flow diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Support change management activities and manufacturing process improvements.
  • Drive initiatives that improve throughput, reduce variation, and increase reliability.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Process Engineer should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of chemical manufacturing or process engineering experience.
  • Adhesives, coatings, specialty chemicals, or related industry experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with process validation, PFMEA, and control plans.
  • Proficiency with SPC and data analysis tools.
  • Experience supporting new product introductions and manufacturing scale-up activities.
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience working in ISO-regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems; JD Edwards experience is a plus.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working hands-on within a manufacturing environment.
