As a result, they are looking to add a Project Accountant to their team.In this role, the Project Accountant will serve as a key financial resource for assigned construction projects, supporting everything from budgeting and forecasting to cost analysis, billing, and financial reporting. Job Description

Project Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Establish new projects by setting up job records, loading project budgets, creating billing structures, and configuring GC Pay based on executed contract requirements.
  • Monitor project financial performance by tracking labor costs, subcontractor expenditures, general conditions costs, and overall project spending.
  • Analyze budget activity and partner with Project Managers to identify variances, cost trends, and potential budget concerns.
  • Assist with Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting by providing insight into project profitability, billing status, and over/under billings.
  • Generate and submit customer invoices in accordance with contractual billing requirements and project milestones.
  • Participate in monthly and annual financial close processes, including account reconciliations and project reporting activities.
  • Maintain organized and accurate project financial records, including lien waivers, contract documentation, and supporting project files.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and project teams to resolve billing issues, documentation discrepancies, and payment-related inquiries.
  • Verify subcontractor compliance requirements to ensure eligibility for payment and funding approval.
  • Process and distribute subcontractor payments in a timely manner while adhering to company procedures.
  • Support the onboarding, training, and development of new accounting team members by sharing knowledge and best practices.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, project accounting, and construction financial management practices.
  • Construction Industry Experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
