Project Engineer - Chicago

• Generate innovative product designs by creating concepts, detailed sketches, 3D models, and technical specifications for new and existing applications.
• Lead cross-functional research and development efforts with internal teams and external suppliers to meet project goals and timelines.
• Oversee technicians and design support personnel in the development of testing methodologies, validation plans, and engineering analyses.
• Manage prototype development activities in collaboration with manufacturing, procurement, and third-party vendors.
• Evaluate and authorize project cost estimates to support program execution.
• Drive value engineering initiatives by identifying cost-saving opportunities, validating design modifications, and implementing approved changes.
• Compile and maintain technical documentation required to support intellectual property and patent filings.
• Select appropriate raw materials and define engineering requirements and specifications.
• Assess component compliance and approve or reject parts for integration into new or existing product lines.
• Coordinate product certification activities, including testing, submissions, and regulatory approvals with agencies such as ETL and UL.
• Provide engineering and technical expertise to both internal stakeholders and external customers.
• Develop, modify, and release engineering drawings, CAD models, and related documentation.
• Collaborate with regulatory and testing organizations to ensure compliance with evolving codes and industry standards.
• Assist manufacturing operations by providing engineering support and troubleshooting as needed.
• Travel periodically to customer sites, suppliers, or other business locations, with travel requirements up to 20%.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned to support organizational objectives.
