Job Description

The R&F Engineer will:

  • Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to develop cable and cable assembly designs.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and manufacturing risks throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Evaluate new project opportunities and support quotation activities with timely technical feedback.
  • Solve complex engineering and manufacturing challenges related to cable assemblies and associated processes.
  • Lead cross-functional projects from concept through qualification and production transfer.
  • Prepare and contribute to DFM reviews, FMEAs, cost analyses, and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate development activities across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Support product validation, qualification testing, and implementation into production.
  • Develop technical input for tooling, equipment, and process improvements.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to commercial and operational teams.
  • Work closely with suppliers, consultants, and external partners to support development initiatives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities focused on quality, efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Assist with manufacturing documentation, including BOMs, work instructions, routing information, and quality records.
  • Support capital equipment projects and prototype development activities.
  • Maintain compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and workplace safety procedures.

The Successful Applicant

The R&D Engineer should have the following qualifications:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience within cable assembly, wire and cable, catheter assembly, or related manufacturing environments.
  • Background in medical devices or highly regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, connectors, tooling, extrusion, molding, and assembly techniques.
  • Experience supporting process automation and manufacturing improvements.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with BOMs, work instructions, process maps, PFMEAs, routing documentation, and costing systems.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software.
  • Strong project management capabilities and experience using project planning tools.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across engineering, quality, operations, supplier, and customer groups.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a focus on quality and customer outcomes.
