Job Description

  • Lead the mechanical design and development of next-generation detection and source technologies.
  • Create innovative concepts, prototypes, and production-ready solutions for complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Produce 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, tolerance analyses, and manufacturability evaluations.
  • Support product qualification activities including environmental, reliability, vibration, thermal, and lifecycle testing.
  • Drive successful transition of products from development into full-scale manufacturing.
  • Provide technical ownership of existing products and support ongoing production activities.
  • Investigate product, supplier, and manufacturing issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Manage engineering changes and lead initiatives focused on performance, quality, reliability, and cost improvements.
  • Design manufacturing tooling, fixtures, test equipment, and assembly aids that improve efficiency and product quality.
  • Partner closely with manufacturing teams to optimize throughput, repeatability, and process capability.
  • Develop validation protocols, documentation, and work instructions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians while providing technical leadership across cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with global engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain functions to support business objectives.

The Successful Applicant

  • At least 8 years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent platforms.
  • Expertise in mechanical design, materials selection, structural analysis, thermal management, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience designing production tooling, fixtures, and test systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Hands-on prototyping, laboratory testing, and validation experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated capability to leverage AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve productivity and decision-making.
